Connie Sun (“cartoonconnie”) is a self-taught cartoonist, writer, and illustrator, based in New York City. She has been drawing original cartoons and illustrated essays for over a decade, keeping up a long-running daily drawing practice. Through her whimsical and introspective comic strips, she explores themes of neurodiversity, social belonging, and Asian American identity. Her cartoons have appeared in The New Yorker Daily Shouts, The Washington Post, McSweeney’s, GoComics, NPR, Angry Asian Man, and Climbing Magazine. (In her free time, she is an avid climber.) Before pursuing writing and cartooning full-time, she worked in graduate-level program management and holds a master’s degree in Comparative and International Education. She is currently developing a full-length illustrated book about a neurodiverse female protagonist, navigating the challenges of daily life and relationships with a wise elephant companion.
